Remedial Massage is an appropriate career for self-starters. Most graduates generally enter clinical practice either alone or as a partner in a healthcare clinic.
These possibilities also include: massage therapist working alongside chiropractors and osteopaths; with sporting teams; remedial therapist treating WorkCover clients as referred from GPs; health retreat staff; and in private or community health services.
Remedial Massage
Overview
Massage involves healing by touch. Working with the soft tissues of the body including muscles, tendons and ligaments, the massage therapist helps the body improve the functioning of joints and muscles, as well as promoting circulation and general body tone and relieving mental and physical fatigue.
Diploma of Remedial Massage
This course provides graduates with the ability to assess and treat soft tissue dysfunction, to alleviate pain and enhance movement and function. It includes detailed studies of massage, soft tissue techniques, assessment and management of muscle injury, anatomy and physiology, clinical practice, and interpersonal skills. The course also includes three elective workshops.
