Massage Therapy and Aromatherapy is an excellent career for self-starters. Most graduates generally enter clinical practice either alone or as a partner in a healthcare clinic. Possibilities also include: massage therapist working alongside Chiropractors, Osteopaths Physiotherapists; with sporting teams; Massage Therapist or Aromatherapist in a health retreat or in private or community health services, or Aromatherapist working in a retail outlet. This course is a great addition to knowledge of Natural Medicine practitioners who can then provide clients with a deeper holistic approach to healing.
Massage Therapy
Overview
Massage involves healing by touch. Working with the soft tissues of the body including muscles, tendons and ligaments, the massage therapist helps the body improve the functioning of joints and muscles, as well as promoting circulation and general body tone and relieving mental and physical fatigue.
Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice and Diploma of Remedial Massage
This course provides graduates with the ability to assess and treat soft tissue dysfunction, to alleviate pain and enhance movement and function. It includes detailed studies of massage, soft tissue techniques, assessment and management of muscle injury, anatomy, physiology and pathology, clinical practice, and interpersonal skills. There is an emphasis on sports massage and the management and treatment of common sporting injuries as well as the application of massage techniques in a corporate environment. The Certificate IV is a pre-requisite to the Diploma
Theory components of the Diploma and Certificate IV can be competed online, thus providing students with better flexibility in completing the course. Clinic and practical subjects must be undertaken on campus.
